Home health booklet

The first national home health booklet with tips for people with minor illnesses was launched in 1998. A total of 2.25 million copies of the NHS Home Healthcare Guide, produced with the Doctor Patient Partnership and the Health Education Authority have been sent out to Health Authorities, pharmacies and NHS Trusts. The Guide has a directory of common illnesses, tips on what to keep in a home medicine chest and advice on first aid. It is practical and straightforward advice written by doctors. From advice on allergies through to vaccinations and women's health, the guide will help people make informed decisions about their illnesses or concerns, with clear guidance on when you should see your doctor or take other professional advice. Copies of the guide are available from the Health Information Service on Freephone 0800 665544 and the Health Literature Line on 0800 555777.
