A new 2pp publication from Precision Micro, the Birmingham based precision components specialist, highlights the breadth of bespoke EMI/RFI shielding solutions that the company manufactures.

Precision Micro believes that EMI/ RFI shielding cans should be designed to suit the application and not vice versa and because bespoke solutions can be produced in a matter of hours, there is little justification for maintaining stocks of cans with compromised, standard, design and dimensions.

The company uses a range of “non traditional” production technologies that depend on low cost digital tooling. This enables shielding cans to be manufactured in a matter of hours and without a significant up-front customer investment ... ideal for assemblers who wish to follow a low risk production strategy.

The Precision Micro manufacturing route also allows shielding cans to be formed manually or with soft tooling. Precision fold lines help generate outstanding co-planarity which in turn makes effective assembly easier.

The document also highlights some of the features, incorporated by Precision Micro, that help differentiate the performance of its products from the rest. The company has recently developed a “quiet” finger joint arrangement for can corners that assists attenuation while giving the enclosure greater rigidity and helping it maintain its outstanding co-planarity.

A further feature derived from the Precision Micro manufacturing process is the ability to include logos and identification marks at no extra cost.
