Menvier Hybrids closes the gap

The Class 1000 certified clean room recently installed by Menvier Hybrids has enabled conductive tracking gaps as fine as 75 microns (3 thou) to be screen printed using gold ink on an alumina substrate. This technique allows thick-film hybrid circuits to be manufactured with even greater component packing densities. Gaps of 100 microns have been achieved using platinum/silver on both alumina and aluminium nitride (high thermal conductivity) substrates.

Built within the existing clean room, which houses the company's general screen printing operation, the new clean room also enables Menvier to produce high-quality multilayer circuits and high-voltage capacitors with dielectric breakdown characteristics typically greater than 3 kV. Substrates up to 4 x 4 in can be handled in the new facility.

Fine line work is becoming increasingly important for hybrids used in the telecommunications, broadcast and computer industries. The developments at Menvier now enable the company to meet the growing demands from customers for even more compact circuits.
