The Tenth “Industrial Robot Innovation Award” was bestowed on July 24, 2012 during the 15th International Conference on Climbing and Walking Robots and the Support Technologies for Mobile Machines (CLAWAR 2012) in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, to Clifford McKenzie of North Carolina State University, USA, and Aaron Parness (Figure 2) of the California Institute of Technology, USA, for their paper entitled, “D.R.O.P. the durable reconnaissance and observation platform”.
This annual innovation award, sponsored by Emerald Group Publishing’s Industrial Robot Journal, is granted to research that is considered for practical field experience in robotics, includes a substantial degree of innovation, and has been tested in the real world.
