Adept wins $1.2 million robotics order for use in prescription drug fulfillment system

Adept Technology, Inc. a leading provider of intelligent vision-guided robotics and global robotics services, today announced that their robotics have been selected for an automated prescription drug fulfillment system that will use their Adept Cobra™ SCARA and Adept Viper™ 6-Axis robots. The $1.2 million order represents Adept's second major customer win in the past six months in the growing market for the automated fulfillment of prescription drugs.

The Adept Cobra and Viper robots will be integrated into systems that will be deployed regionally in automated pharmacy fulfillment centers. According to BCC Research, a 35-year old market research firm serving the Healthcare industry, the US pharmacy automation market will grow from $1.4 Billion in 2003 to $2.5 Billion by 2008 (Figure 2).
