This book takes a commercially oriented look at composite products and presents a methodology of how the design process should be carried out. It aims to assist designers, and anyone else who wishes to use composites, to produce financially successful developments.

An Introduction to Composite Products is also a useful introduction to the subject and can provide mutual understanding between the various disciplines which make up composite materials. This book is therefore of use to those interested in resin formulation, reinforcement manufacture, design processing and manufacturing engineering.

The book consists of 26 chapters, with the first five chapters addressing the design of composite products. Chapters 6 to 11 discuss different suitable materials for composite products, including fibres, matrix resins, lamina and laminate properties, reinforcement forms and core and ancillary materials.

The following five chapters address the fabrication process, testing and the effects of product placement and wear and tear. Chapters 17 and 18 cover adhesive bonding and bolted joints. Statistics, costing, quality, troubleshooting and a case study of product development are amongst the topics covered in the remainder of the book. A bibliography and glossary are included in the Appendix.

Overall this book gives a very good overview to composite product design, development and manufacturing. By containing almost no mathematics, it makes it very easy to grasp "the bigger picture" of this complicated subject.
