Mitsubishi has appointed its first industrial distributor for the new RV-E and RV-EN ranges of 5 and 6 axis compact, high-speed, industrial robots. The distributorship agreement is with Evershed Robotics Ltd of Telford a specialist systems integrator in the automation industry with 15 years of experience in industrial robotics (Plate 1). The newMitsubishi range will extend Evershed's ability to supply systems in such areas as semiconductor processing, laboratory testing, machine feeding, pallet loading and similar precision applications, particularly with 3-dimensional motion which can also incorporate vision guidance.

The RV-E and RV-EN ranges have a wrist range up to 930mm and exceptionally high speeds of up to 6m/sec. With their unique combination of speed and accuracy, the RV-E series can take payloads of up to 3kg, move them through 5 or 6 axes and place them with a repeatability of 0.03mm. The more powerful 5 or 6 axis RV-EN series, with bigger motors and brakes offers 6m/sec speed and 0.03mm repeatability, but extends the payload to 5kg with acceleration to maximum speed in a startling 50mS.

The RV-E/EN robots are also available in class 10 and class 100 clean room specifications. Models intended for light materials handling and machine loading duty have IP54 environmental specifications.
