New venture for AK Industries with ATM robotic systems

ATM Automation of Leicester have secured an order to install two of their AEX 1000 robots and associated equipment at the Hereford factory of AK Industries (AKI).

The £30,000 contract is to design, build and install the robots and guarding on two OIMA 180t injection moulding machines to produce plastic components for electronic showers. As part of their comprehensive package, ATM also designed and built specialised interchangeable grippers to handle a dedicated suite of tools to handle the range of components to be produced.

AKI's managing director, Keith Williams, said, "AKI is a progressive company in the plastic injection moulding industry, using a great deal of modern technology. The two OIMA machines are our latest acquisitions, bringing the total up to 17".

ATM is one of the largest privately owned companies designing and manufacturing robotic and automated systems in the UK.
