ISI have announce that Web of Science back-year databases have been extended to 1945 to provide over 50 years of bibliographic and citation data.

World-wide, customers have purchased the Web of Science with an average file depth of 17 years. Using this historical data, researchers are able to track published literature back to its roots and thus develop a greater understanding of prior developments and more accurately judge which path future research efforts should take.

Back years purchases of the Web of Science are being made across all kinds of institutions – corporate, government and academic. In Brazil, CAPES and FAPESP purchased the entire file of this award-winning database that goes back to1945. In Asia, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University loaded 26 years of Web of Science data. Other institutions have realised the benefits gained by linking over a half century of scholarly literature. Included in this list are over 130 institutions world-wide.
