UK: EFCE Strategic Review of Sustainable Development in Higher Education
Article Type: News From: International Journal of Sustainability in Higher Education, Volume 9, Issue 3
The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) recently published its Strategic Review of Sustainable Development in Higher Education. The key aim of the review – which considered the three key areas of teaching, research and estates – was to devise a baseline of sustainable development activity across the English higher education sector. The review concludes that there is a substantial amount of sustainable development research being undertaken in English HE institutions, but that it may not be reported well by the RAE process, and in many institutions is disparate and not always well coordinated.
