The Indian Machine Tools Manufacturers’ Association (IMTMA) recently organised a two-day Productivity Summit which included a productivity award process.
A total of 327 companies sent entries in the form of case studies for the award, of which 15 were finally short-listed to make presentations in five categories:
- 1.
productivity improvement in SME sector;
- 2.
optimising metalworks processing;
- 3.
productivity through quality improvement;
- 4.
better asset utilisation; and
- 5.
manufacturing system redesign.
Lokeswara Rao, president, IMTMA said:
This is the first summit that we have held in Pune and considering that the city has emerged as a major auto hub, we are hoping it will contribute positively towards the industry here. This year we have introduced a productivity award as we thought that recognising the contributions of individual firms towards improving the quality of the industry would provide a boost towards improving the best practices being followed.
