PLC market boost
The worldwide market for programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is growing due to rapidly developing regions and expanding application areas. These are the findings of the ARC Advisory Group study: ‘Programmable Logic Controller Worldwide Outlook.’ The PLC market is expected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate of 4.6 per cent over the next five years, going form over $6 billion to reach over $7.5 billion in 2008.
The growth in the domestic demands in China, Eastern Europe, Russia, India and Brazil has meant a growth in industry sectors in these countries, providing an opportunity for increased PLC usage.
The market is also boosted by expanding application areas. PLCs are becoming so much of a commodity that they are being used in many applications outside of discrete manufacturing.
