But what does it mean?
I know that jargon is often unavoidable – it can form a useful shorthand among those in the same industry or profession. But I also know that things like “guru speak” often hide real meaning – or disguise the fact that there isn’t any. I sometimes show things I have written to my kids (not youngsters!) and they say … “But what does it mean?” and I re-write it. I came across such an example recently. A consultant (it would be, wouldn’t it?) was writing about the evaluation of the people in an organisation as a key business asset. His advice was (among other things) to “interrelate organisational context and human capital practices”. Yes, but what does it mean?
