Modern radio

Motorola’s Commercial, Government and Industrial Solutions Sector (CGISS) is proud of the smooth implementation of its TETRA (TErrestrial Trunked RAdio) digital communications solution for Modern Terminals Limited. The new TETRA system plays a very important role in the efficiency of Modern Terminals’ operations with its highly available and reliable communication technology. This smooth implementation also marks Asia’s first TETRA project for the seaport industry.

With the TETRA-based radio communications system, Modern Terminals will benefit from reliable, state-of-the-art voice and data communications that help manage the increasing volume of container traffic plying through the terminals each day, as well as strengthened terminal security.

Motorola’s new TETRA system serves Modern Terminals’ operations initially in Container Terminal 9 (South), followed by Container Terminals 1, 2 and 5. The terminals’ equipment maintenance engineers and security personnel are equipped with compact and rugged Motorola TETRA portable radios to help co-ordinate, supervise and monitor the day-to-day operations. In particular, the system facilitates work order dispatch, container tracking and logistics co-ordination. Mobile radios have also been installed on the cranes to facilitate communications between crane operators, terminal supervisors and equipment maintenance personnel.
