A major difficulty in the increasing number of courses that require research modules as part of their requirement is the lack of excellent textbooks that consider research in practical settings. This stimulating book is a bold attempt to offer students, teachers, and lecturers a guide to the pit‐falls involved in the research process. It will clearly occupy a central position in the growing number of courses in research studies.

While there is nothing wrong with a good textbook that meets the concerns of the reader, Jenny Ozga’s book tackles the pertinent issues that face researchers’ managerialism, globalization etc. and the implications of these developments for the research process. Ozga’s exploration of the feminization of school management is in particular handled astutely.
