Source Academy adopts audio-coaching

Article Type: Notes and news From: Industrial and Commercial Training, Volume 43, Issue 3

The Source Academy, a UK training and skills organization, is taking an innovative approach to the personal development and management coaching of its own staff. The company is working with Digital Marcus, which provides downloadable MP3s that offer employees access to the kind of coaching that was often previously available only to business leaders.

Digital Marcus is the brainchild of motivational speaker Marcus Child and adventurer and entrepreneur Miles Quitmann. Their audios draw on Marcus Child’s 20 years of experience in coaching politicians, business leaders and sport stars. They are designed to offer a cost-effective alternative to some face-to-face training.

The Source Academy has bought a licence giving all its employees access to six audio programmes, each lasting about 40 minutes. They cover goal setting; the power of positive language; managing change in business and personal life; how to achieve five-star customer service; and the importance of physical and mental well-being. They contain a mixture of stories, humor, research and rhetorical questions.

Ann Cadman, managing director at the Source Academy, said: “As a training academy, we understand the importance of having our own team in the best possible shape. Marcus Child gets his messages across with humour and subtlety.”
