Polish telecom group makes training connection

Telekomunikacja Polska (TP), the largest telecommunication group in central Europe, hopes to increase the productivity of its 5,000-strong sales force through blended learning on new products and systems.

TP is working closely with Saba, a provider of human-capital-development and management solutions, and its value-added reseller in Poland, Betacom, which is providing the local services to support implementation of the training.

"As a leading telecom operator in Poland, we put a great deal of effort into the professional development of our staff and take advantage only of the best, most famous solutions and methods", said Wojciech Roman, member of the TP management board. "Products and services such as those offered by Betacom and Saba will help us to support our business objectives, especially in the area of e-learning. These solutions are already being used to decrease the cost of implementing other enterprise systems, such as customer-relationship management, by quickly providing training that helps employees to get up to speed on new systems.

"TP intends to increase its advantage in the competitive telecommunication market by delivering the right training to the right people at the right time, tracking competencies, and increasing the knowledge and skills of employees."

Miroslav Zaleski, Betacom chief executive, said: "We are pleased to announce our first joint customer with Saba, which we believe demonstrates the growing interest in Saba solutions in Poland. TP evaluated many options and chose Saba as the most comprehensive, flexible and powerful human-capital-development and management solution".

Bobby Yazdani, Saba president and chief operating officer, said: "This deployment reflects the strong global capabilities we have developed in our solutions and through our alliances. It also reflects the depth of domain expertise we bring to organizations that seek to improve their sales and channel readiness through enterprise-learning solutions".

TP operates in the fixed-line, data-transmission, mobile-phone and internet market, and is constantly expanding its range of services to include new business areas. It offers services to more than 15.5 million clients.
