UK Education and Employment Minister Tessa Blackstone has announced more funds for a development programme which breaks down national barriers and helps more people obtain European experience of the world of work. The European Union's vocational development programme, Leonardo da Vinci, will provide funding for training-related trans-national placements of people either in the workplace or in further or higher education.
The programme will also finance transnational pilot projects which will develop innovative and high quality training materials for use across Europe.
Leonardo da Vinci will last from 2000 to 2006. Over the seven years, there will be l,150m euros (£718m) available to training organisations across Europe.
