Dramatization enables the producers to get into 12 minutes a very useful survey of the myriad of problems which can arise if organizations fail to check on the ability of their own computers and those of other organizations with whom they do regular business to cope with entering the new millenium.

Phil, the operations manager of a medium-sized manufacturing firm, wakes up to a horrendous 1 January 2000. First, his alarm clock did not work, nor did his VCR and coffee machine. The office is sweltering because the exhaust fan does not operate. The delivery system goes haywire since the chips guiding the trucks have not changed as they should. A couple take advantage of the office party to nip down to the safe room. Unfortunately, the doors lock automatically and they are trapped over the weekend. Finally, the smelter overheats and starts a major fire, not dealt with immediately because the fire brigade has been swamped with calls. To cap it all, his wife phones to say the children have got food poisoning because the school fridge cut off all weekend damaging the food.

Plenty to ponder on then. A nice contrast with the other video reviewed here, emphasizing the value of a script which helps a viewer to identify with situations rather than just offering facts. It could prompt any viewer to check on some item they or their company may have overlooked.
