Erasmus helps 120,000 students

Around 120,000 students and 10,000 university lecturers will take part in the EU Erasmus programme in 2001-2002, the European Commission has announced. Erasmus, the higher education part of the EU Socrates programme, will also help to launch 120 new study programmes and 220 short courses in 2001-2002. It will have a budget for the year of 150 million euros, 80 per cent of which will be spent on helping students from one European country to study for a time in another.
