Abstract

Volatile demand: Demand in tourism is increasingly volatile. The reasons can be found in the unpredictable behaviour of the consumer and the development of the market. The requirements of potential visitors are changing at an ever faster pace. Although the long term growth trend for tourism is favourable, demand is anything but stable. Quite apart from the usual seasonal and business cycle fluctuations our industry increasingly has to deal with crises of one sort or another.
