Abstract

Following the recent ban on the use of organo tin compounds in anti‐fouling paints applied to in‐shore craft, we wondered (see last month's “Comment”) how long it would be until somebody came up with a viable substitute. First off the mark is Bayer's Organics Group. They report that they have just received their first UK order for Preventol A4S compound, a fungicide/algaecide, as a replacement of an organo tin compound in a marine anti‐fouling paint.
