Parameters to be considered when selecting encapsulating resins
Abstract
A stable pourable liquid which, when mixed with another liquid will, after a suitable period of time at room temperature, form a solid substance. This solid substance will withstand from −0° Centigrade up to and beyond the boiling point of water, without softening. It has electrical insulation values equal to or greater than many other common materials. It has high physical strength, very good moisture resistance. Specific gravity not much greater than water and is clear enough to see through. This ideal material for electrical use is epoxy resin. Anyone hearing this for the first time could not fail to be impressed but, as one would expect, there are some snags.
