Manders takes on a new image
Abstract
Manders Paints and Mander Kidd inks have been with us for a long time (since 1773 to be precise). Yet their image as far as the trade and technical press has been concerned has been that of a very low profile company, shunning the limelight and leaving it to others to shower us with press releases on the appointment of a new lab boy, or the fact that the canteen cat is dead, as well as genuine new developments. However, a recent visit made by this journal to Manders' Wolverhampton headquarters, based in the Mander Tower that dominates the centre of Wolverhampton, and also the Heath Town site that houses the Mander Kidd inks division and the decorative paints division, left us with the impression that Manders have done a lot of muscle flexing over the past eighteen months and that in the 1980s they will be offering keen competition in the paints and inks markets.
