Abstract

In their new book, Street Smarts, professors Roy Smith and Ingo Walter draw a link between professional behaviour and shareholder value in financial markets. Now more than ever, they argue, in order to survive investment houses must generate codes of practice that balance the expectations of society and investors. In this excerpt, they outline the challenge to guiding and assessing the conduct of firms.
