Abstract

Microelectronics and their implications for education and training became a major concern of the Council for Educational Technology during the period covered by the Council's latest Annual Report (October 1978–Spetember 1979). In July the Council reiterated the belief that a national programme was necessary if progress was to be made in that important field. In the meantime, it decided to push ahead with such work as was possible within the constraints of the current budget and the need not to allow the Council's other activities to be impaired. In view of the impact of public spending cuts during the latter part of the year, it is significant that many of the other aspects of the current programme are concerned with improving the efficiency as well as the effectiveness of educational provisions. Among these activities are:
