Abstract

The Queen's Speech opening the new Parliament, fulfilling its traditional function of foreshadowing the Government's programme of legislative and administrative action, included a paragraph which declared that “further steps will be taken to increase the supply of teachers” and “higher and further education will be expanded to meet increasing demand”.
