Abstract

Operation of a Cropping Press (b & w, 12 min, 5s) Poultry Feeding and Egg Collecting (b & w, 14 min, 10s) Cutting Floor Tiles (b & w, 18 min, 10s) Putting Felt on Battens (b & w, 12 min, 5s) The above films — all in a Work Study Practical Exercise series — were produced for the British Productivity Council between 1957 and 1963. They are specifically for Work Study lecturers in technical colleges and training establishments who may not have ready access to a suitable practical exercise. Each film is divided into two parts, ‘before’ and ‘after’. The first part records the operation in its original form as seen through the eyes of a Work Study engineer. After students have carefully studied the original job, the second part of the film is screened to show the new method. In this way, students can be shown the principles of method study and the techniques of analysis, charting and recording.
