Abstract

A lack of confidence in addressing others is one direct cause of imperfect or reduced communication. This is serious whether the group is a conference, a seminar, a discussion group or, indeed, a class of students. It need hardly be added that it is highly uncomfortable for the sufferer and not much better for anyone else. This is a report and commentary on a recent informal study of the main causes of this lack of confidence.
