Abstract

The Electricity Supply Industry in England and Wales is 172,483 people supplying over 19 million customers annually with electricity to the value of £2,400 million, and electrical wiring and appliances to the value of £191 million. It is also 168 power stations burning coal, coke breeze, oil, and other fuels to the extent of 80 million tonnes per year. Its fuel bill is £1,200 million — it pays out £403 million in wages and salaries, £279 million for other goods and services, and £383 million in interest charges; there is also £344 million depreciation on the £5,200 million worth of plant that it owns.
