Purpose – Interviews Jonathan Stanger, co-founder and chief executive of the UK training company, Raise the Bar, about his career in sport and in training, his company and the contribution that sports psychology can make to training. Design/methodology/approach – Quotes direct from Stanger about his career and the philosophy behind his approach to training. Findings – Argues that successful people need to decide what their goals are and be determined to make them happen, before they plan how to achieve these goals and identify the training that they need. Underlines the need for people to want to raise their game.
