“Brain drain” from Turkey: survey evidence of student non-return

which appeared in Career Development International, Vol. 8 No. 2, 2003

Aysit Tansel is a professor of Economics at the Middle East Technical University, Ankara. She received her BS from Middle East Technical University with high honors, her MA from University to Minnesota and her Ph.D. from State University of New York. She was a research fellow at the Yale University during 1990-1993. She is a research fellow of the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) in Bonn and the Economic Research Forum (ERF) in Cairo. Her main area of interest is labor economics with a focus on economics of education, returns to education, private tutoring, economics of gender, labor force participation and unemployment.

Nil Demet Güngör received her bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Ottawa, where she also minored in Public Policy and Public Management. She completed her postgraduate studies at Middle East Technical University, earning her PhD degree in 2003. She worked as editorial assistant for METU Studies in Development journal for the duration of her doctoral studies. Her research interests are labor economics, economics of education, applied econometrics, and economic growth and development.
