IT staff reap rewards of training

IT training leads to financial rewards for within weeks, an online poll of IT staff reveals. Of the 400 students questioned, 34 per cent were awarded a pay rise immediately after completing their course. On average, students received a 36 per cent pay rise.

The trend is most striking as students climb the IT ladder. More than half of those earning over £30,000 received a pay rise as a result of their training. For those earning over £50,000, training is a sure-fire way to generate a significant boost in income, with 100 per cent of the students in this category winning a pay rise.

Of the students who changed jobs after earning new qualifications, 57 per cent received pay rises. However, those who remained loyal to their current employer were also rewarded. Of all the students who increased their income, 36 per cent remained in the same job.

Robert Chapman, co-founder of accelerated-learning specialist the Training Camp UK, which carried out the research, said: "Certification is practically the only way that companies can accurately measure a candidate’s true value. An employee who has achieved certification at an accelerated rate has demonstrated the ability not only to absorb complex information quickly, but also to understand it and apply it to real-life situations.

“It is no surprise that companies are rewarding financially those staff with advanced skills. With accelerated learning, the employer can apply the newly acquired knowledge to meet business goals without delay. The up-side for the majority of students is an almost instant pay rise.”
