Resin floor for aeronautical company

Keywords: TRW Aeronautical Systems, Resins, Flooring

A resin flooring has been installed in a part of the Hemel Hempstead factory of TRW Aeronautical Systems, where repairs and overhauls are carried out on aircraft equipment such as generators and small gas turbines (Plate 6). Laid on top of plain concrete which was causing problems due to dusting and an irregular surface with both slippery and pot-holed areas, the new flooring has provided an even finish with good anti-skid properties.

Resin Flooring Limited, which specialise in this type of work and were awarded the contract because it was known to offer a reliable service, put the 750 square metre floor down in a weekend in order to avoid disrupting production schedules. The product used was Pumatect, a high-build epoxy coating which is applied in two coats and provides good resistance to chemical spillages and abrasion.
