Keywords Deutsch, Connectors, Military

Deutsch's new ASM and ASM Micro series connectors (Plate 3) are the military versions of its AS and AS Micro range.

Plate 3 Deutsch's new ASM and ASM Micro Series

Available in various shell sizes and planforms, the Series is intermateable with connectors conforming to JN1003 (Deutsch HDJ Series) and also can be custom-design filtered, providing a low-cost solution for interconnections on aircraft and associated test equipment, ground rigs and similar non-airborne applications.

Designed for use where high performance, minimal size and lightweight are essential criteria, the Series is made of high strength aluminium alloy with olive drab cadmium finish. Features include integral screen termination/boot location eliminating the need for back shells and removable, gold-plated, copper alloy crimp contacts. It is available in two-hole flange mounting, in line, PCB receptacles and free plug, and there are five shell orientations.

Specifications for the ASM Series include contact sizes 16 (20 amp), 20 (7.5 amp) and 22 (5 amp); 100 per cent scoop-proof interface with RFI grounding fingers, and polyamide insulators with fluorinated silicone interface and wire seals. The Series also offers high density up to 128 way and temperature rating of -55°C to +175°C.

The ASM Micro Series 11 can accommodate 22, 24 and 26AWG cable in a compact design with contact arrangement shell # 6, five way. Features include scoop-proof interface with shell to shell grounding; contact rating 3 amps and thermoplastic insulators with fluorinated silicone interface and wire seals. Dielectric withstand voltage is 1,000 VAC rms and temperature rating is -55°C to +170°C. There is also an aluminium coupling ring.

The ASM Micro Series I has similar specifications but features a composite coupling ring and temperature rating of -40°C to +150°C.

Deutsch also provides contacts, tooling and accessories for this range including braid termination systems.
