Edward Howell has things well covered

Keywords Edward Howell, Galvanizing

Edward Howell Ltd reports that it is helping fill a hole – or rather several thousands of them.

The West Midlands, UK galvanizer informs us that it has won an important ongoing contract for hotdipping manhole covers that will end up covering drains and other underground services situated beneath pavements, garden paths and in industrial surroundings in different parts of the UK.

Edward Howell is galvanizing more than 300 of the pressed steel manhole covers, of varying thickness and sizes, a week.

The company has manufactured specially designed jigs which carry them through the processing lines at the Wednesfield, West Midlands, plant.

"It's a new market for us – and one which we think has a lot of potential", said Edward Howell's sales manager Jim Lindsay. "A manhole cover might have to take a lot of pounding and punishment. Galvanizing gives vital corrosion-free protection."

Helping with safety above ground, the firm has just completed galvanizing a hundred tonnes of box sections and tubes, up to 14 metres long, for signposts that will aid drivers to find their way on new sections of the M60 Manchester Orbital Motorway.
