Junction boxes for harsh environments

Keywords Abtech, Enclosures, Protection

From the outset of discovery and processing of offshore oil and gas, Abtech have been playing a leading role in enclosure design working closely with major plant operators and equipment designers. The company believes that the use of stainless steel and glass reinforced polyester material provides the best protection for equipment in the offshore environment - claiming 25 years of proof, not just in European offshore conditions but also in major installations world-wide. Hazardous area EEx'e' enclosures, manufactured in both stainless steel and glass reinforced polyester, form the basis of the ABTECH portfolio. Available in more than 30 sizes in stainless steel 316L and 15 sizes moulded in GRP, primarily used for housing terminals and other passive components providing protection to a minimum of IP66.

There are many features in the Abtech enclosure design including machined from solid block hinges, floating cage nut lid fixing system, full sized gland plates on the stainless steel range, and sliding terminal rails. All are described as "user friendly". Abtech consider that they have a tried and tested design and are able to continually adapt to accommodate the ever-increasing demand for a better product.
