The Copper Development Association (CDA) has issued a new publication entitled High Conductivity Coppers for Electrical Engineering. Also available with this publication is a copy of the new "Megabytes on Copper II" CD-ROM containing 75 CDA Publications and six data programs on copper and copper alloys. The publication including the CD-ROM costs just £20.00 and can be obtained from CDA.

High Conductivity Coppers for Electrical Engineering identifies the grades of copper and types of low alloyed coppers, giving guidance on equivalence to the historic British Standard designations, and illustrates the wide variety of end uses. It also discusses the major applications of high conductivity copper and the reasons for preferring it to aluminium.

Copper is available in many forms, and this book describes the extensive range of shapes and sizes available, relating product forms to inclusion in a number of BS EN standards, as well as discussing hot and cold working of copper, and machining and finishing techniques including insulation of winding wires.

The second part of this publication emphasises how the copper industry is at the forefront of recycling technology, discusses the essential need for copper in human health and hygiene, compares coppers with other metals and indicates typical rates of oxidation and methods of protection.
