Collaborations for change: Integrating the SDGs in further and higher education through partnership -A special issue of the IJSHE linked to the EAUC 2018 annual conference

This special issue of the IJSHE is linked to the EAUC 2018 Annual Conference which, inspired by Sustainable Development Goal 17, “Partnerships for the Goals” was themed around “Collaborations for Change”.

This theme reflects the growing acknowledgement of the need for a commitment to inclusive partnerships and cooperation built around principles and values, and a shared vision that places people and the planet at the centre. This special issue focuses on how Further and Higher Education Institutions are integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into policies, strategies and practices approached through the lens of SDG 17: Partnership for the goals.

The issue showcases exciting projects and case studies to address the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) involving different partners, which can be easily replicated in HEIs and FEIs across the world. All of the papers included in this special issue offer detailed descriptions of the projects/cases and the impacts these can have. Underpinning literature and research is shared and offers the potential to set up something similar and increase the understanding of why these projects have been successful in their own right.

The pioneering and innovative EAUC conference aimed to give Academics and Non-Academics the chance to present their exciting partnership projects to a wider audience and to widen the range of actors and voices contributing to academic thought and publishing.

We wish all readers lots of inspiration, innovation and a new chapter is collaboration.
