BT connects with training award

Article Type: Notes and news From: Industrial and Commercial Training, Volume 45, Issue 7

BT has won the best information-technology training award for its new approach to IT-skills development.

The company won the accolade for its flexible-learning programs, named accredited-learning pathways (ALPs), which combine informal technical and business-awareness skills with on-the-job experience, knowledge-sharing and external accreditation.

Carl Douglas, learning architect for BT Technology Service and Operations, commented: “We are delighted to receive the Skillsoft innovation award. It highlights our commitment to continuous learning and development across the company. Our ALP program has had a massive impact on both employees and the wider business and is seen as the key enabler for IT-skills development in strategically important areas.”

“We are proud to recognize BT for its accomplishments in using learning technology to drive results and engagement with its biggest asset – its employees”, said John Ambrose, Senior Vice-President, Strategy, Corporate Development and Emerging Business, Skillsoft. “It is great to be able to work with an organization that values the benefits of learning and strives to integrate it within its business model”.
