Abstract
Examines the legal factors surrounding employers′ treatment of misconduct and substance abuse. Discusses problems of alcoholism and drug abuse for the employer, employers′ legal liabilities, how to treat addiction problems, investigations, recurring problems, misconduct, and drug problems in and out of work. Concludes that treatment should be based on the principle of treating each case on its merits with sympathy, understanding and compassion.
