Total quality management in a research and development environment
Abstract
Investigates the role of management processes versus individual aptitudes in today’s corporate US technological research and development (R&D) function. The research reported in this paper assesses the application of TQM in R&D by focusing on historical issues, recent business trends and the backgrounds, experience and attitudes of technical personnel. The methodology is twofold, incorporating a literature review and case study. The outcome of the research is considered in the context of the implementation of TQM within an R&D facility.
