This paper was the product of a course on “Bibliographic Methods” conducted by Dr. Juan Freudenthal at Simmons College. However, methodology was not the only emphasis of Dr. Freudenthal in LS 408. Students were made very much aware of the far‐flung and growing interest in “Bibliographic Instruction,” especially in colleges and universities. This paper attempts to bring together the professional literature that has been directed at the college and university librarian in the increasingly popular area of library orientation and instruction.

This bibliography covers materials published during 1976, with some 1975 entries omitted from last year's listing. Citations from a number of foreign countries are included if published in English. A few items were not available for annotation. The growing interest in library use instruction is evident from the fact that the number of entries has doubled over those included in the bibliography for 1975.
