Cold but not frozen
In Toronto earlier this year, I was in temperatures of approximately –10°C. With a windchill factor on top of this, it was very cold. Yet, obviously people expected such temperatures, were prepared for them, and managed to run their lives very effectively. The lesson? By and large people cope with what they anticipate and prepare for. Where most people have trouble is when the unexpected happens. So, in your working life, communicate with people. Even bad news. If they have the time to prepare, they will cope much more effectively. If you surprise them, not surprisingly they may act out of shock and unpreparedness.
