High five
BT has signed a five-year contract, worth an estimated £33 million, with Lucent Technologies to provide support and services for BT's UK network. Support will be spread across several components of BT's network including optical, Internet protocol (IP), voice and data switching and the telco's 999 emergency services number. To ensure cost-effectiveness Lucent will also provide remote technical support to help BT ensure consistent network efficiency for its customers.
