Access for directors

The Institute of Directors, in association with property management company Stonemartin, is rolling out "IoD hubs" around the UK – serviced offices with highly flexible tenancy arrangements, one itemised bill and no hidden costs. Customers pay only for the space that earns them money but benefit from the collective purchasing power of the whole building. As well as the usual furniture and meeting rooms, the communications facilities include high performance Internet connectivity from Zipcom, including diversely routed fibre backup. Connectivity for the first hub – in Birmingham – was operational in 30 days. The solution includes a customised bandwidth allocation tool, enabling Stonemartin to have several Internet connections ready and waiting for new customers. Zipcom can turn connectivity up and down within hours, rather than days required by conventional delivery mechanisms. SMEs, in particular, can enjoy telecommunications services more frequently associated with larger companies, with a portfolio including Web hosting, firewalls and redundancy.
