The State of the Art in Small Business and Entrepreneurship

As the title suggests, this book gives an account of the "state of the art" in small business and entrepreneurship research. It outlines the present economic situation in industrialised countries and the functional and managerial aspects of their small and medium-sized business (management, finance, marketing, production and human resources). Each chapter begins with a summary of research findings to date, presents the main theoretical concepts underpinning them, and ends with an examination of avenues for future research to advance the theory. The theoretical framework has been validated through empirical research, in particular for the OECD in Paris and the book is based on 18 years of research by the members of the Research Group in Economy and Management of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises at the University of Quebec (and their foreign collaborators).
