Bank on it

ICL, the IT services company, has won a ยป1.3m (R13m) contract with Nedbank, South Africa's fourth largest bank, to make electronic banking services accessible to the general population. The contract will include the installation of 300 self service kiosks in Nedbank branches and in shopping centres. The kiosks will provide Nedbank's customers with easy access to information on a wide range of financial products such as mortgages, personal loans and insurance. It will also mean Nedbank customers do not have to carry cash to pay bills, as this can be done electronically through the kiosks direct from their accounts. The ICL service will replace the 280 Unisys kiosks the bank had been using to date. The kiosks incorporate a touchscreen with space left in the design for a handset and speakers. They may also be used to offer Internet banking in the future.
