The RICS Economic Brief for June 2004 reported upon the Bank of England’s second consecutive rise in interest rates. There has been a modest slowdown in construction activity but over the last year, output rose by 9.1 per cent, the largest rise in almost 16 years. House prices remain robust but predicted further interest rate rises will dampen demand. This has occurred in Australia recently.
