The RICS membership has now approved amalgamation with the Society of Surveying Technicians (SST). Members of the former SST will now be able to use the designation Tech.Surv.(RICS) but will not be able to call themselves Chartered Surveyors; this has to be approved by the Privy Council. If approved it will take effect in August 1998. Statistic the RICS now has 70,000 qualified members and 20,000 students and probationers.
